Importance of Islamic Higher Education in the City Dumai encourage the formation of Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Tafaqquh Fiddin under the auspices of the Foundation Tafaqquh Fiddin in 1999. With confirmed by Decree of the Coordinating Kopertais Region XII Number: 05/XII/K/2000 About Licensed Operations, dated 1 April 2000. After running two years, STAI Tafaqquh Fiddin obtain Registered status by decree of the Minister of Religion Number: DJ.II/264/2002, July 12, 2002.

The willingness of the founders of this school to realize a professional religious education in the city of Dumai, cause all the efforts made. In the first period. the foundation with STAI board fought hard to get permits and build the campus.

In an attempt to get the permissions, the long struggle carried out since 1999, has resulted in the issuance of the operating permit by Kopertais Region XII in 2000. Operating permit that was not enough to show eksisitensi STAI, so that in 2002 the foundation again made efforts to get permits listed. Finally in the permit is registered by the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia can be bagged STAI-TF.

Discharge permit has not yet registered can calm your heart and squeeze both the foundation and the board STAI. State tuition is always moving from Haj Dormitory Road. Patimura, to Mr. T. A very comforting state of the founders of this school is when on 20 July 2004 held at Hotel Patra Dumai melaksankan graduation STAI-TF 40 people attended the inaugural graduating class. Where previously the board has done that twice in the House Mella 'munakhasyah' Pekanbaru on April 8, 2003 and at the Hotel Tasia Dumai Queen on January 8, 2004.

Now Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam Tafaqquh Fiddin will continue to grow and continue the good fight to fix the quality of services to students, make innovations for development and social purposes. Because STAI Tafaqquh Fiddin present as a response to the needs of religious plural society in the middle of transition and the metropolis.

STMIK dan AMIK Dumai

STMIK and AMIK Dumai as higher education institutions are two computers located in the city of Dumai in Riau Province, under the auspices Yayasan Pendidikan Makmur Ridar (YPMR) chaired by Drs H Marlis Alamsa. Under the the foundation is both universities are moving in accordance with the dynamics of education in Kota Dumai and national. Originally YPMR pioneered a computer that is college Akademi Manajemen Informatika & Komputer (AMIK) Dumai in the Year 2000 by the Decree of the Minister of National Education No: 171/D/O/2000 dated August 23, 2000 with the study level Diploma III (D3) and the Diploma I (D1) Department of Information Management.

Now AMIK Dumai is the age that gave birth ke8 and 656 graduate alumni of the study D1 and D3 levels. 90% of its graduates have worked in various government and private agencies in both the City of Dumai and in other areas in Indonesia.

After 5 years AMIK Dumai stand, then back YPMR apply to the Directorate of Higher Education to go back to open a higher level of level of Strata 1 (S1). Alhamdulillah thanks to the cooperation and support of all components of society, then on May 2, 2005 was published the Decree of the Minister of National Education No: 45/D/O/2005 about permits establishment Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika & Komputer (STMIK) Dumai, Study Program: Information Systems and Technical Information.

With the establishment of two higher education institutions under a single computer at the Foundation, it also becomes a historical record for the City of Dumai to start mengeliatnya education in the city because in addition to the oil-AMIK STMIK DUMAI also emerged college- college program consisting of different studies. This indicates that the oil town of son-daughter is not to be outdone by the rest of Indonesia in facing the higher education towards a more glorious future.

Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Dumai

Judging from the maps and geographical Dumai City to be a potential business because of the central economic and adjacent to developed countries in the world of country of Singapore as a base of free trade in the era of globalization and AFTA, besides that in Dumai City now has many of the mining, processing industry, agriculture, trade and transport, services, banks and other private agencies.

Islamic Education Foundation (YLPI) located in Dumai previously been successfully manage a college-level colleges are: College of Engineering and Industrial Management (ATMI), Dumai, founded since 1985 and to date 200 people have successfully completed a Bachelor of (DIII) program Industrial Engineering and Management, which in general has worked in various industrial enterprises in the town of Dumai and surrounding areas.

Based on field observations have been made in Dumai City and surrounding areas against the companies, both large and small scale as well as other related institutions, they are generally in desperate need of scholars (experts) in particular technical field of Industrial Engineering, Information Engineering and Civil Engineering. This is because until now there is no college in Dumai an open field of study.

Seeing the opportunity at the top and the amount of interest in Dumai and surrounding communities will be engineering-based higher education, the Islamic Education Foundation (YLPI) Dumai founded the Sekolah Tinggi Teknlogi (STT) Dumai Undergraduate Program (S1) consisting of three (3) these excellent courses. Since August 5, 2003 School of Technology has obtained a decree of the minister Dumai No SK: 123/O/D/2003.
