Pinang Kampai Airport

Pinang Kampai Airport (IATA Code: WIBD, ICAO Code: Dum) is located in the southern city of Dumai. The airport has a runway length 1800 x 45 meters with the type of asphalt (ASP).

Since three years ago to manage the airport was handed over to the Government of Dumai. Even so, a number of airlines serving this route and then back on the grounds are always losses.

Today, Riau Airlines flight no longer stop in ini.Sebelumnya airport, airline Merpati Airlines has also been using this airport. However, by reason of a loss, just as Riau Airlines, Merpati flights to the airport was also closed this.

The airport is equipped with navigation facilities of non-directional beacons (NDB), runway lights, taxiway lights, apron, light, helicopter hangar and helipad.

There is also an aircraft depot along tankernya charging and fire facilities. The airport is located in Duri-Dumai road near the housing complex PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia.

August 2008, at the Head Office of PT Pertamina, General Manager Processing Unit II Dumai, Heru Supandriyo, and Mayor of Dumai, H Zulkifli As, signed the MoU on Management Pinang Kampai Airport. The signing was witnessed by the Director of Processing of PT Pertamina (Persero), Rukmi Hadihartini.

Until now Pinang Kampai airport is owned by Pertamina and airport operations directly managed by Pertamina UP II Dumai with the status of a special airport that can serve the public interest. Through the signing of this MoU, the airport management implemented by Pemko Dumai with a mechanism to lend use during 5 (five) years since the agreement was signed.

After 5 (five) years, Pertamina will conduct an evaluation for the possibility of asset disposals. For the first phase pertamina give subsidy of Rp 1 billion per year up to 3 yrs. After that all costs be borne Pemko Dumai.

The city government plans to extend the runway Dumai Pinang Kampai airport. Currently the existing runway 1800 meters long and 30 meters wide. With the development of the airport runway is expected Pinang Kampai can accommodate wide-bodied aircraft like Boeing 747. Pemko Dumai expect assistance from the Department of Transportation, so that in 2011 the construction of a runway lengthening and widening can be done.
